I can sit here and say that because it’s true. Meat production continues to accelerate. Veganism may have made the demand for meat slightly less than it would have been otherwise, but with overall demand for meat growing so rapidly, it’s had no effect on production.
Ask someone who knows about economics. Even if there was a significant reduction in the demand for meat, that wouldn’t necessarily mean less meat would be produced. It could simply mean that prices get lowered to create more demand, and you end up with more meat being produced than before.
You’re right, anarchism hasn’t made much headway either – which is why we need to use a wide range of tactics and not get ‘married’ to any one in particular. We need to drop tactics that don’t work, think of new ones.
Remember, if you could organise the workers in a slaughterhouse to go on strike for one day, you could save the lives of more animals than in an entire lifetime of being vegan.
